We are not a Democracy!
We are a Representative Constitutional Republic.
If 99% of the people in this nation believed that we should have segregation would that be right? If 80% of the people wanted to use Nuclear weapons in Iraq would that be okay? If voter turnout was 35% and 51% of those that voted wanted only those with Master Degrees or higher to be able to vote – would that be right?
That could happen if we were a Democracy!
With the Constitution and the Bill of Rights those laws and actions could not happen. Heck under a Democracy we would not have the Bill of Rights! Think about it a moment. As soon as 51% of those who vote wanted a change it would and could happen. This is one of the reasons our Country is a Republic.
We have all heard the Administration telling us we are moving forward in making the world a Democracy. If that was the truth we would see a Shia based government is Iraq.
The reasoning we have a Republic and not a Democracy is in a Republic 51% of the people can not interfere with the rights of the other 49% or even just 1%. Would you want it any other way?
There are many things wrong with the current administration. I will not argue that point. But keep in mind; we elect people to represent our desires, morels and beliefs. If that person is not doing what you elected him or her to do, elect someone else. We have the power as The People to put individuals in office that are there to represent us / you. When they stop representing us / you, find the next person that will. That is were our power is! Use it. Become active. Know what your Elected Representative is doing – always!
