I have just finished reading a few blog entries from avisualsociety and jackanory about what not to do with a portfolio.  I really wish they (and the commenters) would give real suggestions on how to make a presentable portfolio. 

Take a few minutes to read the above blogs. If you can offer suggestions on what to do (and not to do). Feel free to comment and help fill in the blanks. 

Why do I bring this up? We are getting ready to start marketing our small studio and I would  like for us to be able to show a wonderful and memorable portfolio. Something our potential client will remember when it comes time to pick a photographer.
